The start-up last month of the Aasta Hansteen field in the Norwegian Sea is set to trigger new exploration and development activity in Norway’s deep-water Voring basin as operators seek to make the most of the costly new infrastructure, writes Beate Schjolberg.

The Equinor-operated platform is Norway’s first and the world’s largest spar platform, moored in a water depth of 1274 metres, 320 kilometres west of the northern town of Bodo.
