The objective of the merger is to accelerate profit growth within subsea markets through the global supply of products and systems and subsea engineering, procurement and construction contracting, ABB said. ABB Offshore Systems will employ some 2000 staff at offices in the UK, US, Norway, Canada, Singapore and Egypt.
ABB sets up merger
SWISS/SWEDISH engineering group Asea Brown Boveri's Norwegian oil and gas concern ABB Offshore and UK-based offshore subsea control systems provider ABB Seatec will merge on 1 January 1999 to form ABB Offshore Systems.
