South Sudan’s authorities are in talks with two little-known companies keen on securing exploration acreage in the conflict-ridden nation.
Minister of Petroleum Ezekiel Lol Gatkuoth also told Upstream that discussions continue with Total and Tullow Oil over oil-rich blocks, while players from China and Malaysia are looking to expand their South Sudan upstream footprint.
In addition, he highlighted plans to more than double the country’s oil production from 130,000 barrels per day, claiming that secure zones around South Sudan’s oilfields have been established to allow infrastructure to be repaired and brought back online, permitting exports via Sudan to grow.
