"We represent the first major innovation in gas processing technology since turbo-expanders were introduced about 20 years ago," says Hugh Epsom, a director of Twister BV, the company behind the technology.
Twister has been six years in the making. For its first three years the concept was refined in a research and development programme by its owner, Shell. Then, in May 2001, the Anglo-Dutch supermajor set up the spin-off company Twister BV for further development and commercial marketing of the system, bringing in venture capital from JP Morgan and 3i, respectively providing 40% and 20% of the necessary backing.
