Chief executive Osman Shahenshah and chief operating officer Shahid Ullah were sacked for “gross misconduct”, said Africa-focused Afren.
Two of the company’s associate directors — Iain Wright and Galib Virani — have also been sacked, while Afren has started disciplinary action against seven existing and former employees.
These payments were linked to transactions that saw Afren secure access to acreage in Nigeria operated by two local companies, Oriental Energy Resources and Amni International.
