Eni could have a new hub project on its hands off Angola after discovering between 450 million and 600 million barrels of oil equivalent in place at the Agogo prospect in Block 15/06, writes Iain Esau.

Agogo, which has resource upside, lies about 20 kilometres west of Eni’s N’Goma (West Hub) floating production, storage and offloading vessel.

While a subsea tie-back to the floater could make sense at this stage, this light oil discovery has opened up a new sub-salt Tertiary play that could throw up more fresh resources sufficient to underpin a stand-alone project.
