STAVANGER-based Aibel is in pole position to land a major front-end engineering and design contract for modification and decommissioning work on two platforms at ConocoPhillips’ Ekofisk field off Norway.
Industry sources told Upstream that Aibel has been in dialogue with the US operator for months about the North Sea project, although other Norwegian contractors — Fabricom, Agility Group and possibly others — have also been seen as contenders for the frame contract on offer.
