The power plant has only been in production for a few days since it was completed last year, because high gas prices mean it cannot compete with electricity from hydropower plants.
"It has been extremely difficult to establish reliable sources of flue gas at Kaarsto, and we therefore want to focus on other projects," said Aker Clean Carbon boss Jan Roger Bjerkestrand.
