BP PLANS to halt its 12-year oil production slide on Alaska's North Slope and increase oil flow from the state by one-fifth over the next few years. Supporting this optimistic forecast are aggressive plans for new exploration and development, plus technology and cost-cutting breakthroughs that will boost production at and near existing fields. We will stabilise our production from Alaska in 2001 and grow it 20% over the next five years, said FX O'Keefe, vice president and exploration chief at BP Exploration Alaska, basing the growth plan on the current 300,000 barrels-per-day level.
