The oil-rich Canadian province of Alberta will increase mandatory production limits in September by 25,000 barrels per day, reflecting larger crude-by-rail volumes, declining inventory and improved efficiencies in export pipelines.
Production limits in September will be set at 3.76 million bpd compared to 3.74 million bpd in August, the Alberta government said last week.
The cuts were introduced in January by Alberta's previous New Democratic Party government as part of a broad scheme to tackle the price challenge that also included an investment in crude-by-rail.
