The provincial government of Alberta, Canada plans to give the operators of about 65,000 shallow natural gas wells across the province more than C$23 million ($18 million) in tax relief amid a volatile regional pricing environment, writes Caroline Evans.
The plan amounts to a 35% industrial tax break this year. Alberta's United Conservative government said it would take "immediate steps" to work with municipalities to cut 2019 taxes on the targeted wells and pipelines.
