McDermott International’s new fabrication yard in Altamira, Mexico, is coming into its own, with plenty of optimism about its opportunities in the market.
The yard may lack the historic weight of the US Gulf yard it replaced at Morgan City, Louisiana, but its location gives it a premium position to capitalise on the decision to open up Mexico’s oil sector.
It can also benefit from a new designation from customs officials to mark the area it occupies as a free trade zone for fabrication work.
