Geophysical companies took an interest in multi-client seismic surveys in New Zealand following the-then government’s amendments to local oil and gas legislation in 2013, writes Russell Searancke.
Amendments were made to the Crown Minerals Act, which governs petroleum and minerals activities.
The amendments extended the confidentiality period for seismic data gathered through petroleum prospecting permits from five to 15 years.
