The company wants a “technically innovative and well capitalised company with North Atlantic or North Sea operating and 
field development experience” to operate the acreage with the aim of drilling a first exploration well this year.

The exploration licences, which are 100% controlled by 
Ammonite, lie close to Exxon­Mobil’s producing Sable gas 
complex and EnCana’s Deep 
Panuke gas project.

EL 2417 contains the Penobscot L-30 Cretaceous oil discovery made by Petro-Canada and Shell in 1976, which the Canada-Nova Scotia Offshore Petroleum Board (CNSOPB) assessed could contain between 26 million and 80 million barrels of oil.
