Shelf Drilling jack-up Trident-VIII has spudded the first of eight development wells on Nigerian independent Amni International Development’s Tubu field on Nigeria's OML-52 block, a shallow-water asset formerly operated by Chevron in the eastern Niger Delta.

Chevron had calculated in 2013 that Tubu held some 142 million barrels of oil equivalent in proven reserves.

Amni aims first to bring the oil on stream from a wellhead platform, tied into the operator’s existing Ima field production infrastructure, located to the south on OML-112.
