The company recently signed a a three-year contract with Noble Corporation for the ultra-deep water drillship Noble Bob Douglas, which is being built by Hyundai Heavy Industries in South Korea.
Delivery of the drillship is planned in the fourth quarter of 2013, and Anadarko will then mobilise the unit to New Zealand for two firm wildcat wells, and possibly three.
Robert Daniels, Anadarko’s senior vice president for international and deep-water exploration, confirmed the company had “just signed a rig — a newbuild coming out of the Asian shipyards in late 2013 — to spud the wells over there (New Zealand)” but he did not elaborate further.
