US INDEPENDENT Anadarko Petroleum is closing in on a final investment decision on its proposed Area 1 liquefied natural gas development in Mozambique, writes Eoin O'Cinneide.

The Houston-based player this week finalised two agreements with the government, together known as the marine concessions, that will allow it to design, build and operate the two-train LNG project in the northern part of the country, for which the company continues to hunt offtake deals.
