US independent Anadarko Petroleum is carrying out decommissioning activities at the Gomez field in the deep-water Gulf of Mexico after the company was saddled with the costly responsibility following the 2012 bankruptcy of former operator ATP Oil & Gas.
Anadarko filed for a permit earlier this month to plug and permanently abandon a well in Mississippi Canyon Block 711, home to Gomez.
