Chevron has begun to explore the idea of applying the mid-sized semi-submersible design being developed for its Anchor discovery as a potential development solution for its Ballymore find, also in the deep-water US Gulf of Mexico.

The US supermajor earlier this year entered the front-end engineering and design phase for its planned Anchor facility, which is expected to be a lightweight production semisub with capacity for 75,000 barrels per day of oil and 28 million cubic feet per day of gas, according to Chevron’s latest presentation detailing major capital projects.
