FEED work on the greenfield facility at Soyo, as well as an offshore gas gathering system, is expected to kick-off once the Angola LNG partners which also include BP, ExxonMobil and Total have secured the necessary funding, said a well-placed source.
Two parallel FEED studies have been demanded by ChevronTexaco that will pit Bechtel, using ConocoPhillips' Cascade technology, against a JGC/Kellogg Brown & Root joint venture, which is pinning its hopes on Air Products' liquefaction hardware.
