ANGOLA, one of sub-Saharan Africa’s foremost oil producers, has signalled its intent to rebrand its upstream sector after nearly four decades of rule by former president Jose Eduardo dos Santos.
Since his accession last September, President Joao Lourenco has swept away dos Santos loyalists and removed most of the old guard from key public positions.
Lourenco vows to “take good care of the golden goose” that produces oil revenues for a country still ranked the 19th most corrupt by Transparency International.
