It is understood this is the first time Covus has carried out such a job. Its bread and butter since being established in 1998 has been in providing diving and remote-operated vehicle (ROV) services to oilfield owners and larger contractors.
Sources said the Perth-based company, which is majority owned by Clough, should have no difficulty in managing the step-up to flowline installation.
