BP has drilled a successful appraisal well on the margins of its under-development Greater Tortue Ahmeyim (GTA) field off Mauritania and Senegal that is said to have boosted reserves potential, writes Steve Marshall.

The GTA-1 well struck 30 metres of net gas pay in a “high-quality” Albian reservoir after being drilled by the drillship Ensco DS-12 in a water depth of around 2500 metres, Dallas-based partner Kosmos Energy said.
