The first wildcat will be drilled to a depth of 3800 metres and will target triassic and Ordovician reservoirs, the most prolific horizons in the region. Drilling will take three months to complete before a second well is started. The Hassi Bir Rekaiz concession covers 3192 square kilometres in the Ghadames basin in northern Algeria, where oil reserves in excess of 4 billion barrels have recently been discovered by Agip, Burlington, Cepsa, BHP and Anadarko.
