A tender for a turnkey delivery of a new platform in the field was recently aborted following a veto from Chevron, which owns a 16% non-operating interest, sources said.
Chevron's decision to opt out was said to be linked to the supermajor's efforts to realign its resources on the back of heavy spending on its Gorgon and Wheatstone liquefied natural gas projects off Australia.
