A concerted change to renewable energy sources coupled with major investments in energy efficiency could in tandem stabilise greenhouse gas emissions, boost energy security and improve local environments in China, Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Thailand and Vietnam , said the report Winds of Change: East Asia’s Sustainable Energy Future.
The report called on governments to take immediate action to transform their energy sectors towards the greater use of clean and renewable energies and to implement more energy efficiency initiatives.
