ENBRIDGE is deferring its plans to build the south segment of its Wood Buffalo extension in Canada in favour of integrating it with the Athabasca Twin pipeline.
Instead of building the segment between Hardisty and Kirby Lake, the company will add 100 kilometres of pipe to the Cheecham-Kirby Lake segment and tie the Wood Buffalo extension into the existing Athabasca Twin to expand its capacity to 800,000 barrels per day from 450,000 bpd.
