A start-up staffed by veterans of ATP Oil & Gas and Bennu Oil & Gas has picked up a leasehold in the remote Alaminos Canyon area of the US Gulf of Mexico that includes the 2001 Trident discovery, a never-developed find near the US-Mexico maritime border.
As of 6 July, the start-up Prometheus assumed a 100% share in Alaminos Canyon 903, which contains Trident, as well as blocks 904 and part of 947, according to US records.
