Atlantia is close to having a firm contract in hand to supply a semi-submersible-based production system for the field, which lies in 5700 feet of water in Mississippi Canyon Block 734.
Recoverable reserve estimates for the field range from 50 million to 150 million barrels of oil equivalent.
The topsides will be designed and built to produce up to 45,000 barrels per day of oil from Thunder Hawk.
