The Sydney-based operator has secured a rig to drill the Atlas-1 wildcat on the Titan block in the East Java basin and is expecting to spud in March.

Atlas will be targeting a sizeable gas structure about 35 kilometres north-east of the 2008 Lengo gas discovery, on Mubadala Petroleum’s adjacent Bulu production sharing contract.

Potential combined recoverable reserves from Atlas and Lengo are up to 1 trillion cubic feet of gas, according to AWE.
