One year on from its surprise order for a newbuild semi-submersible rig at Keppel Shipyard, UK-based Awilco Drilling has doubled down on its belief in a vibrant harsh-environment market.
The company last week firmed up the first of its three options with Keppel Fels for an identical midwater unit to the one ordered in February 2018 for $425 million.
The second Moss Maritime CS60 Eco MW-design semisub is due for delivery in 2022 — one year after the first — with the harsh environments of the North Sea and Barents Sea in mind.
