US CONTRACTOR Baker Hughes is expected to approach the market soon about fabrication work on topside modules for Australian operator Twinza Oil's Pasca A gas condensate project off Papua New Guinea, writes Xu Yihe.

Baker Hughes, which is now majority owned by GE, is expected to carry out the engineering and procurement work itself.

Baker Hughes, for which GE Oil & Gas was the original bidder in the process before completion of their merger, was understood to have beaten three rivals — China’s Offshore Oil Engineering Company (COOEC), Keppel of Singapore and a Chinese consortium of Wison and Richtech — that were originally jostling for the front-end engineering and design contract launched by Twinza in January.
