Bakken producers are readying themselves for tighter North Dakota flaring restrictions due to take effect in November, even as natural gas output booms in the US state.

"If the infrastructure isn't there, or the infrastructure is lacking, what it takes to make the gas capture goals is less production," said Lynn Helms, director of the North Dakota Oil & Gas Division, the state's regulator

"So the pressure is really on to move that midstream infrastructure forward," he added.
