Sources said the area of focus is the riser turret mooring system on the floating production, storage and offloading vessel Armada Claire.
The process of riser connection to the turret has been challenging, and sources suggested corrective work was being done as Upstream went to press.
It was too early to tell if there would be any impact on first oil, with an Apache spokesman saying field installation activity "is currently in progress with no safety or environmental incidents to date and production remains scheduled for the third quarter".
