The Caribbean island of Barbados is gearing up to launch its third offshore licensing round early next year.

Sources told Upstream that the Bridgetown-based authorities are timing the launch to coincide with heightened interest in the region generated by US supermajor ExxonMobil’s big oil finds in Guyanese waters.

Neighbouring Trinidad & Tobago is also expected to launch an acreage offering around the same time next year.
