Dublin-based explorer Fastnet Oil & Gas last week made its first moves in the Celtic Sea with the award of licence options in two basins.
Fastnet chief executive Steve Staley said there was now more incentive to explore Irish waters.
“At the government level you have now got an Irish fiscal system for the oil and gas industry which is more attractive than it was,” Staley said.
