Alaska’s Department of Natural Resources (DNR) has given its backing to opening up its sector of the Beaufort Sea to an area-wide lease sale following a preliminary report from regulators.
“The director preliminarily finds that the potential benefits of the lease sales outweigh the possible negative effects, and that the Beaufort Sea Areawide oil and gas lease sales will best serve the interests of the State of Alaska,” acting director for the state’s Division of Oil & Gas James Beckham said.
