Chinese companies are planning to build four such facilities in northern China, all taking Beijing as their core market.
The first gas from LNG is expected to arrive in Beijing in 2008 from a terminal in Tangshan city 100 kilometres to the east, to be followed by plants in the neighbouring cities of Tianjin, Qinghuangdao and Dalian.
The Tangshan terminal is being promoted by China National Petroleum Corporation.
