Venezuela’s President Nicolas Maduro was trying to rally his supporters this week after huge opposition demonstrations created mounting pressure for a vote to oust him, as some observers predict the endgame is approaching for his administration.
The opposition effort is intended to force the vote before the end of 2016, as this would require new elections.
Maduro is trying to refuse the calls but, as a rearguard action, the ruling “Chavista” socialists want to stave off the vote until 2017.
