British Gas and state oil company Entreprise Tunisienne d'Activites Petroluem each have a 50% interest in the permit, which covers a four-year exploration period. Colin Friedlander, technical director of exploration and production for the UK company, said Ulysse includes acreage close to the Miskar gas field, the Ashtart oilfield and the Hasdrubal gas discovery. British Gas is Tunisia's largest foreign investor, supplying 80% of the country's total daily gas demand.
