So while Hill says there were plenty of internal talks during drilling of the expensive Parati well that was the first to test the pre-salt concept, she says there were never any real doubts.
With the Tupi field's success becoming apparent by November 2006, the partners' experiences at Parati have served as useful lessons about drilling the pre-salt play - for example, relating to the type of sediments that would be found.
