BHP has wrapped up a three-well drilling programme off Trinidad & Tobago, with the drillship Deepwater Invictus targeting a spud for its key Trion-3DEL appraisal well off Mexico in early to mid-July.

The rig is sailing now and will first make a stop in Brownsville, Texas for some repairs before heading back to Mexican waters, according to a spokeswoman.

The Australian explorer in May won approval to drill the well from Mexico regulators, who approved a target start date of 7 July.
