BHP has reported positive early results from its second appraisal well at the Trion discovery in the Perdido foldbelt off Mexico, writes Kathrine Schmidt.
The Australian company spudded the Trion 3DEL well on 9 July, it said while disclosing its full-year results. The well was completed on 8 August, a company spokeswoman said.
"We are encouraged by the preliminary results, with the well encountering oil in the reservoirs up-dip from all previous well intersections," BHP said.
