BHP has hit hydrocarbons at the first well in its latest drilling programme in deep waters off Trinidad & Tobago.
“Bele-1... was spud on 2 March 2019 and encountered hydrocarbons. Drilling is still in progress and our assessment is ongoing,” the Australian company said in its latest operational review.
The well was drilled in Trinidad & Tobago Block 23(a) targeting gas in Pliocene-aged formations in a water depth of 2102 metres and to a total well depth of 3693 metres.
