State-owned Qatar Petroleum (QP) has unveiled its eagerly-awaited tender for the construction of the liquefied natural gas carrier fleet that will transport new LNG supplies from the North Field Expansion (NFE) project, writes Nassir Shirkhani.
The tender foresees initial delivery of 60 carriers, with the potential to exceed 100 new carriers over the next 10 years.
It also covers shipping requirements for the LNG carriers that will be purchased and offtaken by Ocean LNG — a joint venture between QP and ExxonMobil — from the Golden Pass LNG export project in Port Arthur, Texas, in the US, which is under construction and planned to start by 2024.
