Drilling contractors submitted bids this week in a Petrobras tender for the charter of anchor-moored semi-submersible rigs to operate in 700 metres of water off Brazil, write Fabio Palmigiani and Gareth Chetwynd.

The state-controlled operator is seeking up to two units to to carry out drilling, completion and well intervention work in the Campos and Santos basins.

With 22 companies registered to bid, Petrobras received several prices in the opening phase of the tender on 15 February, but two bids stood out when the competitive auction began one day later.
