The rig has spudded its first well down by the Mexican border, in south Texas farmland, drilling for stranded gas for Fidelity E&P, a company that has also been involved as a development partner for the new unit.
The main drivers in the evolution of this rig have been to achieve a highly compact, easily transported and easily assembled unit. The rig is designed to be completely self-erecting, in principle needing just three trucks and no cranes for this task.
