China National Offshore Oil Corporation (CNOOC) has started construction of a liquefied natural gas import terminal in the Binhai region of Yancheng city, in eastern China’s Jiangsu province, following endorsement by the country’s National Development & Reform Commission, writes Xu Yihe.
The 14.4 billion yuan ($2.15 billion) project involves construction of an LNG jetty capable of handling vessels of up to 100,000 tonnes, four storage tanks and an export pipeline.
