Block EPNT14-3 sits in the McArthur basin and is close to the Alice Springs-to-Darwin gas export pipeline.
This is the third permit to be released this year in the Northern Territory, where players including Statoil and Total have exploration acreage.
The other two permits are EPNT14-1 and EPNT14-2 — the former is in a similar area as EPNT14-3, while the latter is south of Alice Springs.
