Malcolm Brinded, executive director of Shell Exploration&Production, said Bonga had cost $3.6 billion to develop, up from an original estimate of $2.7 billion.
Start-up of the project which aims to produce 225,000 barrels per day of oil and 150 million cubic feet per day of gas comes more than two years after Shell's original target date. Brinded said the project targets represented an increase of around 10% in Nigeria's oil production and around a 25% increase in Shell-operated production in the country.
